An Introduction to HSG

At the institute of Grassland and Environmental Research in the United Kingdom, scientists discovered that grasses with high levels of water-soluble carbohydrates (sugar) could be used more efficiently by livestock, resulting in improved digestibility and higher milk production.  As a result, IGER began to develop ryegrasses with these improved quality characteristics.  The first fruits of this breeding programme are High Sugar Grasses - HSG.
